Common Questions:

Empathy For Animals' Answers:

Q: What inspired you to start Empathy For Animals?
A: Very simply, "There comes a point when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one's conscience tells one "That is right""
~Martin Luther King

Q: What is a vegetarian?
A: A vegetarian is someone who does not eat ANY creature that once had a face. Yes, this includes fish & sea life.

Please do not call yourself a vegetarian while you sit there and happily eat fish. You are a pescatarian, big difference. But, there's always room for change! :)

Q: Do you animals feel pain?
A: Of course they do. I don't think I would waste my time making a website called "Empathy For Animals" if it wasn't even true. Are you not an animal... do you feel?
"So to conclude: there are no good reasons, scientific or philosophical, for denying that animals feel pain. If we do not doubt that other humans feel pain we should not doubt that other animals do so too."
Animals can feel pain.

"An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language."
~Martin Buber

Q: Do you really care more about animals than people?
A: Not exactly, but you couldn't blame me, now could you?

"I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being."
~Abraham Lincoln

Q: How does vegetarianism effect your life?
A: It becomes a lifestyle that enables overall harmony, whether to friends, family, strangers, or other animals. We now don’t feel the need to compete with those whom don’t compete with us. It’s a mutual relationship of compassion, reaching towards the intelligence of other creatures. Your life becomes more fulfilled knowing you aren’t only doing the best for yourself, but for the sake of empathy; any creature on this earth.

"Cruelty to animals is as if man did not love . . . there is something so dreadful, so satanic, in tormenting those who have never harmed us, and who cannot defend themselves, who are utterly in our power."
~Cardinal John Henry Newman

Q: And who exactly are these well-known people that supposedly contribute similar ideas?
A: To name a few: Benjamin Franklin, Leonardo da Vinci, Leo Tolstoy, Alice Walker, Ben L. White, Franz Kafka, Albert Schweitzer, Albert Einstein, Voltaire, Plato, Plutarch, Mahatma Gandhi, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Rabindranath Tagore, George Bernard Shaw, Cillian Murphy, Horace, St. Francis, Bob Marley, Abraham Lincoln, Cesar Chavez, Claudia de Breij, Joan Armatrading, Jeff Beck, Kate Bush, Lord Bryon, Charles Darwin, Jane Goodall, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Sir Isaac Newton, Mary Shelley, John Coltrane, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Dick Gregory, Joan Jett, Cloris Leachman, Natalie Portman, Nikola Tesla, Mark Twain, Ellen DeGeneres, Benjamin Spock, Louisa May Alcott, Buddha, Soraya Bonali, Sylvia Cranston, Thomas Edison, William Wordsworth, Robert Smith, Thom Yorke, Mike Tyson, Alicia Silverstone, Steve-O, Ozzy Osbourne…

Q: I don't see a blog about ____! What gives?
A: You can make a suggestion or request in our "Pick Our Next Blog!" page or     e-mail me at info@empathyforanimals.org or kailei@empathyforanimals.org! Either way, we'd be more than  happy to hear your ideas.

Q: What's wrong with animal research/testing when it is for our safety?
A: Actually, it in unnecessary & you can read more here; but basically:  "Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are like us.' Ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are not like us.' Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction."
~Charles R. Magel
